The result of a design competition won by BPTW, the contemporary building is set back from the street with open views towards the surrounding area. The new offices are separated into three wings, with the principal wing facing Waldegrave Road with a continuous street frontage reinforcing the existing urban grain. Two further wings project into the site to create a central courtyard space that maximises natural light into the building and provides a break-out space for staff.
The approach to sustainability set out to use less energy through orientation, improved fabric, airtightness and by selecting the most energy efficient plant equipment. As well as receiving a BREEAM Excellent rating, the project has won widespread recognition including a Green Apple Award for Sustainability and was shortlisted in the RIBA London Awards.
