Our landmark regeneration scheme, Rochester Riverside, has been shortlisted for the Place in Progress category at the 2024 Pineapple Awards, marking its 20th award recognition.
Designed for Countryside and Hyde, Medway Council’s 1400 home masterplan provides commercial and community spaces in a landscaped public space network that connects the biodiverse riverside to the historic city centre.
With 1/3 of the masterplan delivered, the scheme now has 502 homes, a station hotel, a local supermarket, a café, public spaces, and a riverside walk.
The site’s transformation has been guided by strong Council leadership. The success of this placemaking strategy and the finished result is a testament to how collaborations between artists and designers from the start can create an original neighbourhood rooted in the local sense of place.
The team presented the project at the Festival of Place on 17th April.
