We are pleased to announce that we have secured planning approval for a 100% affordable scheme for Basildon Council. Our design for Pound Lane will transform 6 Airey houses in poor condition into 13 new homes across a mixture of two-bedroom houses and one-bedroom flats characterised by flexible layouts and private entrances which create active frontages onto the road.
Alongside providing new homes, our proposals include significant public realm enhancements. Pedestrian and vehicular ways are separated to improve on the existing condition of the slip road whilst natural landscaping and vegetation has been encouraged to blossom on the eastern boundary to create a buffer between the woodland and the development for protected species.
The Committee commented that Pound Lane was a ‘very well-designed concept’ which provides ‘the right level of new homes and fits in well with its street scene’. A great scheme which will provide high quality, affordable homes in the borough whilst improving the pedestrian experience and street scenery.
