BPTW is delighted to have received planning permission at committee last night for a new housing scheme in LB Hounslow on behalf of client Merchant Land.
Located along Windmill Road, Brentford, this landscape-led scheme will provide 74 new homes located around a central courtyard.
Situated on an awkwardly shaped, light industrial site, our design team worked closely with LB Hounslow to create a scheme that provides great quality new homes, a considered landscape and concealed parking.
The building articulation and materiality references the local typologies, ranging and transitioning from Victorian terraces to tall, modern apartment buildings. The entrance street, flanked by front doors, leads to the central courtyard with natural play features. Both buildings front and are accessed via the courtyard, looking to promote neighbourliness and community.
The landscape includes cherry and walnut trees, as well as produce beds, all referencing the sites former plant nursery and links to fruit production. Residents also have access to a large rooftop garden that will offers wider views across London.
All new homes are of a high-quality design with many accessed via a deck, maximising dual aspect and natural light. Car parking is concealed within a podium to minimise cars visible with the landscape.
We look forward to the project being realised in the near future.
