We are delighted to see Cockham Community Parkland voted to grant planning permission last night by Medway Council Planning Committee.
BPTW’s planning consultancy team and our architectural masterplanners have been working closely with Landscape Architects LUC and Medway Council to design a new public open space for local people on the Hoo Peninsula. The parkland will re-purpose 51ha of farmland to create a place for community recreation, combined with extensive habitat creation including the enhancement of Cockham Wood SSSI.
The site occupies an elevated position and users will be able to enjoy the stunning views offered across the River Medway.
The parkland is being brought forward as part of a Strategic Environmental Management Scheme (SEMS), which is funded by the government’s Housing Infrastructure Fund. LUC and BPTW’s planning team are also instructed to bring forward a number of additional SEMS sites for the Council. We look forward to continuing working with the Council to deliver the parkland over the coming years.
