BPTW celebrated International Women’s Day this year in a number of ways, championing the progress of so many talented and inspiring women at the practice. A panel of women staff engaged in an open conversation with the staff body about their experiences of working in architecture and reflected on how they have utilised some of BPTW’s policies to progress through their various career journeys. Staff have also been sharing recommendations on ways that we can celebrate International Women’s Day beyond the workplace through activities, resources and charities.
To coincide with the discussion, the practice organised for treats to be sold to fundraise for Her Centre, a Greenwich based charity local to the studio that supports women to move away from abuse, as well as collecting bra donations to support Against Breast Cancer, a charity that funds research into treatment and earlier diagnosis of breast cancer. Their bra recycling project raises funds for research and repurposes bras to support small businesses in developing countries through their textile recovery project.
We are proud to be an inclusive practice, with over 50% of our staff body being women and continue to strive for a more diverse and inclusive practice through the work of our EDI Steering Group. Happy International Women’s Day from everyone at BPTW.
