This year, BPTW is celebrating a remarkable 35 years of practice!
Founded in the Spring of 1988, we have evolved from a four-person team to a 120-strong AJ100 studio based in Greenwich, London. For over three decades, we have established a reputation as experts in residential design, neighbourhood placemaking and mixed-use regeneration. We are proud to have collaborated successfully with many of the UK’s leading housing developers to create desirable new homes and neighbourhoods across England.
Since our earliest resident-led tower refurbishment projects in the 90s, we have focused on improving the lives of diverse communities with outstanding buildings and places delivered through co-design, an ethos increasingly recognised in the industry with a host of national awards.
Our evolution as a practice has anticipated and responded to the changing needs of our clients and communities; we established our independent planning consultancy team in 2007 and our expert BIM service in 2017, and our new specialist urban design arm launched in 2022. Furthermore, the geographical spread of our projects has expanded far beyond Greater London, with continued targeted growth across Southern and Central England.
All this could not be possible without the efforts of our exceptional and committed staff – new and old – and the remarkable relationships we have built with our clients, design team consultants, industry bodies and community partners. The strength of these relationships has made the last 35 years a great success.
We are excited about 2023 and beyond as we expand our services and continue to design and deliver new and more ambitious projects. These include landmark urban regeneration schemes, new large-scale suburban and rural extensions, area-wide design codes, and fantastic community-led housing schemes.
In our work, we will continue to prioritise the development of our staff to maintain a skilled and motivated team that is well placed to meet fast-paced industry and regulatory changes. We will retain an ardent focus on design quality and placemaking, and continue to embrace new and innovative construction technologies while striving to meet the challenge of climate change through an ongoing commitment to regenerative practice and sustainable design. We will do this while remaining true to our social values and practice ethos – designing and delivering homes and places that transform people’s lives.
We would like to thank all our staff, partners and collaborators for their continued support, and we look forward to celebrating these outstanding contributions throughout the year.
