It is with the heaviest of hearts that we must announce that our dear colleague, and much loved husband, father, son and brother, Chris Bath, sadly left us last Friday. He was just 43 years old.
Having initially joined BPTW in 2002 as a Part 1 student, Chris returned to university to complete his Part 2 Diploma before rejoining the practice at the beginning of 2007. He quickly established himself as an important member of the practice and after qualifying became an Associate in 2013, Director in 2017, and Partner two years later.
His passion and enthusiasm for creating great places to live was evident in all that he did, never more so in his work on Rochester Riverside, a highly successful major regeneration project that has been widely recognised with the first phase winning BPTW’s first ever Housing Design Award.
He was also a committed advocate for the development of younger staff, and vigorously promoted diversity and inclusion. Together with several close colleagues he established links with a number of universities where he actively promoted alternative routes into the profession including Apprenticeships and Collaborative Practice that are enabling young people from diverse and less affluent backgrounds to become Architects.
Today we are coming to terms with what has happened, we’ll reach out in the coming days to let people know how they can offer support and acknowledge the great legacy he leaves behind.
Chris – you will be greatly missed by everyone at BPTW, we hope and pray that all who loved and admired you will find the strength to move forward at this incredibly difficult time.
