The projects vary in size and context, including planning permissions for 105 homes on the Chapelgate town centre site, 35 homes on a busy traffic junction at Broadmayne, 13 homes at Pound Lane, and 26 homes next to a grade-two listed building at Tyefields.
BPTW’s designs range from five and ten-storey apartment buildings to two-storey houses to create new developments respectful of their context with much-needed affordable homes. Alongside providing new homes, the proposals include significant public realm enhancements with new planting and improved pedestrian and vehicular access.
Basildon Planning Committee commented that one of the projects, Pound Lane, was “a very well-designed concept” that provides “the right level of new homes and fits well with the street scene”. The projects help provide quality, affordable homes in the borough while improving the urban realm by transforming vacant sites with new homes respectful of the surroundings.
