As part of our work on the large-scale regeneration of the Teviot Estate in Tower Hamlets, our Social Value Lead and Head of HR, Louise Conder, Associate Alessandro Chiola and Architectural Assistant Louie Levison ran two sessions at Langdon Park School to support the school’s Design, Engineer and Construct programme.
Linked to our own Careers in the Built Environment programme, the sessions were tailored to both year 7s and year 9s and consisted of presentations which highlighted career options in the built environment, whilst introducing students to key architectural concepts such as spatial planning, hopefully inspiring a new generation of architects. These concepts were further explored in live workshop challenges linked to our regeneration work on the neighbouring Teviot Estate; this included a task to redesign an existing underpass on the estate, thinking about how the design can improve connectivity and wayfinding across the site for residents and the wider community.
Using the HACT methodology, BPTW is working closely with Poplar HARCA and Hill Group UK to deliver a detailed social value package at the Teviot Estate which is tailored to the specific needs of the community. Currently in consultation stage, our team is working closely with existing residents to design a scheme which will provide circa 1,750 new homes as well as a range of high quality green and play spaces, shops and community facilities.
